A Sky Full of Stars: miXtur brings Christmas sounds to Ansbach
As the doors of St. Gumbertus open, a concert evening full of luminous sound colors begins in Ansbach. The Ensemble miXtur is organizing a Christmas concert on December 23, 2026, featuring works by Michael Praetorius, Francis Poulenc, John Rutter, Ēriks Ešenvalds, and other composers. The historic church provides a resonant setting for a musical introduction to the Christmas festival.
Vocal Sound between Early Baroque and Modernity
The program connects different epochs and stylistic worlds. Early Baroque sound language meets French choral music, contemporary vocal compositions, and a festive atmosphere. Precise intonation, finely graduated dynamics, and the clear synchronization of the voices characterize miXtur's stage performance. In the acoustics of St. Gumbertus, the sound unfolds immediately, transparently and with impressive spatial depth.
Song, Organ and Recitation as a Special miXtur
Marina Sturm takes the soprano, Judith Werner sings alto. Mattis Jensen and Martin Hartnagel perform as tenors, Tobias Wäschenfelder as baritone, and Maximilian Hischer as bass. Jihyun Sophia Kim accompanies the ensemble on the organ. Clemens Nicol enhances the concert as a speaker and places special accents between the musical arcs.
Since 2004, the Ensemble miXtur has regularly developed new Christmas programs. From their shared musical time in the Windsbacher Boys' Choir, a formation has emerged that combines a cappella singing, instrumental music, and recitation into a versatile concert experience. The mixture of vocal precision, organ sound, and narrative moments is part of the characteristic profile of the ensemble.
Live Atmosphere in St. Gumbertus
The audience's mood ranges from quiet concentration to festive anticipation on this evening. Between warm organ registers and floating choral pieces, a musical landscape is created that temporarily blurs everyday life. It is precisely the combination of sacred space, careful orchestration, and immediate live atmosphere that makes this Christmas concert a special experience for lovers of choral music.
Conclusion: A Musical Path to Christmas
A Sky Full of Stars promises a contemplative and simultaneously varied concert evening with high-quality ensemble singing, organ music, and recitation. Those who wish to conclude the Advent season with intense sound moments and a festive concert atmosphere will experience miXtur live on December 23, 2026, in St. Gumbertus.
