Drawing Your Own Manga Worlds: Your Character, Your Story
How does an idea become a character – and from a character a compelling story? In the creative manga workshop at Kunsthaus R3 in Ansbach, participants will develop their own characters and bring them to life in short adventures. The event by the Young Art School JUKS combines drawing, storytelling, and imagination into an inspiring literary and artistic experience.
When Images Become Stories
Manga do not only tell with words. Facial expressions, body language, framing, and movement are just as vital to the plot as dialogues and sounds. In the workshop, participants explore this unique connection between visual language and narration and create their own short manga sequences.
Character Design with Personal Touch
At the beginning of every story is a character with special traits. What does your character look like? What can they do particularly well? What challenge awaits them? These questions lead to an individual character design, which is then integrated into a unique storyline.
Speech Bubbles, Sounds, and Little Adventures
With drawings, speech bubbles, and sound words, a unique visual narrative emerges. Participants will learn about the central elements of manga storytelling: character development, scene building, dialogue management, and the rhythm of a series of images. This way, individual sketches become a short story with atmosphere and narrative direction.
Creative Work at Kunsthaus R3
Kunsthaus R3 provides the perfect setting for focused drawing and collective experimentation. Under the guidance of Juyeon Choi, technical perfection is not the focus; rather, the joy of one’s own idea and the development of a personal visual language.
Conclusion: A Literary Experience with Pencil and Imagination
The manga workshop opens up a playful approach to storytelling, illustration, and visual literature for children and young people. Those who want to create characters, draw stories, and bring their imagination to paper will experience an inspiring morning full of creative possibilities at Kunsthaus R3. Participation is free, and registration is not required.
